Verbal reasoning
The goal is to draw meaning from a short piece of text. A series of statements follows the passage, and you answer each one by the three rules below.

- The statement is true: it follows logically from the information in the text.
- B
- The statement is clearly false: the text tells you it is false.
- C
- You cannot say whether it is true or false without more information.
The commonest mistake is answering A or B from what you already know. Answer only from the passage in front of you.
The passage
Psychometric tests are a set of standardised questions designed to objectively and scientifically measure certain characteristics. They are conducted under standard conditions, either online or by paper and pencil. They are scientifically standardised, objective, valid and reliable. Psychometric assessments are also used to objectively assess a person’s personality traits, IQ, talents, behavioural style and abilities. They are commonly used in career counselling, talent development and employment entry to match individual aptitude and personality to a suitable profession. Psychometric tests can be used to evaluate a person’s competency, work ethic and emotional intelligence. They are significant in that they assist employers to focus on appropriately measuring psychological concepts such as personality, cognition and knowledge of a particular job. They help an individual to determine personal goals to achieve better results. Psychometric tests are pricey and costly in Zimbabwe. Prices depend on the position being applied for.
